Car Crash Lands Deep In Woods After Striking Pedestrian In Mechanicsville: Offiicals (Video)

A driver who struck a pedestrian in the driveway of a St. Mary's County home before coming to a crashing halt in a nearby wooded area has been apprehended.

At approximately 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, first responders were called to the 28000 block of Burroughs Court in Mechanicsville, where there was a reported crash involving a pedestrian in the area.

Officials say that a driver sped into the area and then lost control, caromed off the roadway and into neighboring woods, ultimately winding up completely turned around.

According to the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department, upon arrival, they split into two teams, one to assist the pedestrian who was down after being struck, and the second to come to the aid of the driver, who was trapped deep in the woods.

The driver was placed into state police custody by members of the Leonardtown Barrack and is facing charges while the pedestrian was rushed to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation of injuries sustained in the crash.

Their conditions were not available on Wednesday, May 24.
